Conference Dinner (December 5)

On the evening of December 5, you are welcome to join the speakers for the conference dinner (pre-registration required, additional costs apply). The conference dinner will take place in a restaurant (to be determined) in Leiden city center, on walking distance from both the workshop venue, and Leiden Central train station.

Leiden University

Workshop Venue

The entire workshop including registration and catering will be held in the Academy Building (Academie gebouw) located at Rapenburg 73 in Leiden’s historical city center.

International Access to the Netherlands

Getting to and from The Netherlands is easy. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is an international airwayhub,
with daily direct flights offered by dozens of international carriers from many destinations across the
globe. Rotterdam The Hague Airport is less internationally orientated, but might offer an alternative destination for Transavia, British Airways, and Pegasus Airlines.

 

The Dutch elaborate and convenient public transportation network, makes that Leiden is close to many
other Dutch and European destinations by train:

Amsterdam (40 min.) Rotterdam (30 min.)
Utrecht (45 min.) Antwerp (1.25 hours)
Brussels (2.25 hours) Paris (3.5 hours)
London (6 hours)

Local Airports

Schiphol Airport: Distance from Leiden University – 15 minutes (by direct train)
Rotterdam / The Hague airport: Distance from Leiden University – 1.25 hours (by public transport)

Transport within the Netherlands to Leiden University

Leiden University buildings are located in the historical city center of Leiden.


By public transport: Leiden Central station is at the edge of the city center, and can be easily reached
from all major train stations in the Netherlands. From Amsterdam Schiphol airport to Leiden Central
station will take 15 minutes. Leiden Central Station is on walking distance from the conference venue
(20 minutes).
By car: Leiden offers a large open air parking lot (Haagweg) near the city center (25 min. walk from the
conference venue). Parking rate are approx. 25 euros per 24 hours. Haagweg offers regular
transportation to the city center free of charge, and does also rent out bikes.
